Willie van Rensburg
Willie van Rensburg was born in 1963 and spent his childhood years in Vanderbijlpark where he matriculated at Transvalia High School in 1981. From there, he obtained his National Diploma in Graphic Design at the Vaal Triangle Technicon. He relocated to Pretoria in 1994 where he is currently residing. In his work, Willie prefers to use acrylic, oils, and mixed media. His style is impressionistic, yet bold with the use of vivid colours. He favours African-inspired themes and indulges his passion for the naïve and naïve ethnic style. His works range in size from miniatures to large canvases and it is noticeable in his work that he is strongly influenced by his graphic design background. Over the years he has held many successful solo and group exhibitions countrywide.
Willie has been commissioned by various major corporate institutions throughout South Africa notably the Vodacom head office in Midrand and Pentad Quantity Surveyors. His work also hangs in the ABSA Bank collection, Pretoria Art Museum, Polokwane Art Museum, BMW head office in Munich, Germany, the office of the former state president Nelson Mandela, and numerous private collections nationally and internationally.
