Corli Slabbert
Born and raised in South Africa, I draw inspiration from the country’s dramatic landscapes and seascapes, capturing their essence through vibrant, atmospheric paintings.
The raw beauty of my homeland is inescapable, and I strive to convey more than just visual representations – I aim to evoke emotions.
Influenced by Mark Rothko’s masterful use of color and its emotional resonance, as well as the captivating landscapes of April Gornik and Vija Celmins, my work blends the boundaries between reality and abstraction. Through layered brushstrokes and nuanced color palettes, I invite viewers to step into my paintings and embark on a journey of discovery.
Each piece is an exploration of the intersection between nature and human emotion, encouraging the viewer to connect with their own experiences and feelings. By imbuing my seascapes with an immersive, ethereal quality, I hope to transport viewers to the untamed beauty of South Africa, inspiring reflection, and contemplation.
