Apart from the yearly wildebeest migration in Tanzania from the Maasai-Mara to Serengeti and back, the other important animal migration in Africa, takes place in Botswana; the zebra migration from Linyanti to Savuti , a distance of three hundred kilometers. During this trek they instinctively follow an ancient route, moving on day and night over a period of many days. In the bush the stripes on their bodies form one large pattern; not one individual body is discernable from the rest – especially during a bright moonlight night when it forms: Patterns in the Moonlight. Oil on canvas.
